WeGovNow stakeholder workshop in San DonĂ  di Piave, Italy

The Teatro Metropolitano Astra in San Donà di Piave, Italy, provided an impressive surrounding for discussing the potentials generally provided by WeGovNow for achieving more participatory public services. At the invitation of the municipality of San Donà di Piave representatives of local non-government organisations, businesses, academia and citizens took advantage of the opportunity to receive a guided tour on the capabilities generally provided by an early prototype of the new WeGovNow online platform.

Dr. Giulio Antonini, representing the municipality in the WeGovNow project team, announced a series of local “WeGovNow labs” to be held over the coming months. These are intended to help the project team in shaping ideas on how WeGovNow solutions may best be harnessed for addressing local issues.

During 2018, outcomes are to be piloted under day-to-day conditions. Quite a lot of feedback was received during a lively discussion hosted by Dr. Alessio Antonini, University of Turin. All in all, the debate touched upon a variety of themes. These ranged from technology issues, e.g. how to access the technical infrastructure, up to wider human issues, e.g. a cultural change required to be achieved if the benefits potentially provided by WeGovNow are to be indeed reaped.
